Located in northwestern Sardinia, between the municipalities of Sassari and Porto Torres, the Fiume Santo Power Plant is one of the island's main energy infrastructures. With a net capacity of approximately 600 MW and an average annual production of over 2 TWh, it is a key facility for the stability and security of the Sardinian and national electricity systems.

even after the gradual phase-out of coal.

The power plant

The Fiume Santo power plant currently operates two coal-fired units equipped with emission abatement systems (DeSOX, DeNOX) and dust removal systems.
The plant is authorized to generate energy from biomass.
